Prompting Entire Universes Into Existence — the far future of prompting with AIs
In the beginning there was the prompt
I’ve been thinking about prompting a bit lately. By that, I mean prompting AIs to do something. Probably because, right now, I am prompting a lot, as an activity. I’m prompting ChatGPT to give me answers to my questions, I’m prompting Google Gemini to give me code and images, I’m prompting Storytveller to make stories out of my ideas, I’m prompting music with Suno, and so on.

And one thing that I’m noticing: The sphere of influence of my prompting is expanding. Whereas my prompting an AI to code something used to only be able to solve a small coding problem , now it’s coding entire features. Whereas I could prompt a part of a song, now I’m prompting a whole song. My question is, what would happen if the sphere of influence of our prompting continues to increase, indefinitely? After all, short term this is where we’re heading: In the not too distant future, we will have AIs that will be able to book our flight tickets…
